The Studio is located at 315 E 5th St, Des Moines, Iowa, on the second floor, stairs or elevator access available.

Set up and clean up time is part of the rental time in the studio. Additional time before or after is not permitted in order to keep the space available for other rentals. The studio, common space area outside of the studio and bathrooms must be left as they are found by renters. Renters are responsible for their clients and any mess they make. The door to the studio must be locked upon departure and key placed back in the lockbox, or renter is subject to a $50 fine.

There is a common space outside of the studio with access to a men's and women's bathroom (codes are provided at your rental). This space is not a waiting area. Renters and their clients are welcome to use the bathrooms, but all common areas of the building (hallways, stairways, any other rooms outside of the studio) are off limits for photo use. Congregating in the common areas for more than five minutes during a rental time is prohibited. This is monitored and meant to ensure the safety and comfort of other tenants in the building. Please be respectful of all common spaces. Renters are responsible for client actions in these spaces.

This should be fairly self-explanatory, but for insurance purposes, building guidelines and to keep everyone who uses East Fifth Studio safe, no smoking of any kind (including vaping) or any open flames (including candles) will be allowed.

To keep the space clean, no pets or live animals are permitted. Service pets are allowed.

Adhesive material of any kind is not allowed to be used on the walls or backdrops.

No loud and overpowering noise/music. Please be respectful to other building tenets.

There is metered street parking out front of the building where the studio is located.

Currently we are only offering rental of the space for photography and other creative uses. If you are interested in using the space for a workshop, please contact us.

The studio has west facing windows that allow for beautiful natural light, especially in the afternoon. We do not have any artificial lights to use at this time. If you are wanting any off-camera lighting, you will be responsible to bring for your use.

A white seamless backdrop and minimal black chairs are included with a rental. Additional backdrops, chairs and studio equipment are available at an extra cost and can be added on when booking. To see all available items, visit our Backdrops, Props & Equipment page.

If the Client wishes to reschedule, a 48 hour notice is requested to be given to the Studio. In the case of rescheduling, the rental payment will carry over to the rescheduled rental. Rescheduling due to weather is allowed day-of and will be agreed upon by both Parties.
